We'd like to get to know you!

Thinking about joining St. John's, or have you been attending, but don't really "know your way around" yet? Please send your mailing address to info@stjohnsbeverlyfarms.org and we'll mail out our latest issues of High Tide, our parish newsletter. If you would like to speak with one of our clergy, give us a call at 978-927-0229.

Where should I park? Parking is permitted along Route 127 and some of the side streets. Be sure to arrive early as you might have a distance to walk.

What is the Episcopal Church? St. John’s Church is a parish of the Diocese of Massachusetts of the Episcopal Church, the American branch of the world-wide Anglican Communion. The Anglican Communion is led by the most Revd Rowan Williams, the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury. The Episcopal Church of the USA is led by Presiding Bishop-elect Katharine Jefferts Schori. We are in the Diocese of Eastern Massachusetts, established in 1784, one of the first dioceses organized in the United States. It is among the largest in Episcopal Church, with 79,000 baptized members worshiping in 194 congregations and communities. We are led by Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE. Our parish, St John’s of Beverly Farms is named after St John of Beverly, England, and is led by our Rector, the Rev. Wendel W.(Tad) Meyer, Ph.D and our Curate the Rev. George Stevens, M. Div.

Our beliefs are organized around The Book of Common Prayer, the red book in your church pew. In it are the services, creeds, articles of religion, and Bible readings reflecting a tradition of centuries, and used every Sunday by millions of Anglicans around the world. Our Bible readings are organized around the common lectionary, a schedule of readings that many denominations now use. During a church service, sit next to a regular member and they can show you what page the service is on. Rite I uses traditional language, and Rite II uses contemporary language. Our hymns are in the Hymnal, listed by number. Everyone is encouraged to sing the hymns.

Who is welcome to worship here? Everyone is always welcome to join us for worship.

Is there a Sunday school for everyone? No, just for children. Until our construction is completed, even that Sunday school is limited.

Who may take Communion? All baptized Christians are eligible for communion and encouraged to take both wine and host, and others including small children are encouraged to come forward and receive a personal blessing.

How do I meet people, make friends, and join St. John’s? Be sure to attend our coffee hour after the service and introduce yourself to one of the ushers.

St. John’s wants to welcome you!
